Apples contain a variety of<br \/>\nessential nutrients and vitamins that may help protect the<br \/>\nbody from certain illnesses, including the common cold.<br \/>\nApple juice may also help improve brain function, protect<br \/>\nthe heart, and inhibit various types of cancer.<br \/>\nApricots: Contains plenty of fiber, vitamin C, iron,<br \/>\nboron, silica, and potassium. Which means it helps your<br \/>\nheart, fights fatigue, prevents infection, improves your<br \/>\nskin, hair, and nails, regulates your blood pressure, and<br \/>\nkeeps your digestion moving smoothly, all in only about<br \/>\n16 calories. Apricots, rich in beta carotene, can also<br \/>\ncleanse your system of nicotine leftovers. This is one case<br \/>\nwhere fresh is not the best. Dried apricots have three<br \/>\ntimes the amount of fiber and vitamins.<br \/>\nAvocadoes*: Avocadoes are known to prevent birth<br \/>\ndefects, lower cholesterol, benefit arteries, dilate blood<br \/>\nvessels, and lower blood pressure. Yes, they\u2019re high in fat,<br \/>\nbut half of it is heart-healthy monounsaturated oleic acid.<br \/>\nOne of the richest source of glutathione, a powerful<br \/>\nantioxidant, shown to block thirty different carcinogens<br \/>\nand to block proliferation of the aids virus in test tube<br \/>\nexperiments. And they\u2019re a good source of vitamin E.<br \/>\nBananas: High in fiber and contain lots of vitamin C, B6,<br \/>\nand folate as well as the minerals potassium and magnesium. The nutrients found in bananas help fight cancer,<br \/>\nheart disease and a long list of other ailments. Banana<br \/>\npeels make excellent fertilizer, but also contain a compound that may shift the immune balance of your skin to<br \/>\nhelp relieve warts. People have claimed to heal warts by<br \/>\npressing the inside of a peel against their skin. Why not?<br \/>\nBlackberries: Interferes with the metalloproteinases that<br \/>\ncontribute to skin wrinkling. Also acts as an antibiotic by<br \/>\nblocking the attaching of bacteria that cause urinary tract<br \/>\ninfections. Contains chemicals that curb diarrhea. Also<br \/>\nhas antiviral activity and high in natural aspirin.<br \/>\nBlueberries: Blueberries help prevent and treat bladder<br \/>\ninfections by making it hard for bacteria to stick to urinary<br \/>\ntract walls.<br \/>\nCantaloupes: One cup of cantaloupe provides about<br \/>\n103.2% of the daily value for beta carotene. Because of its<br \/>\nhigh vitamin C, it also fights infection, and stimulates<br \/>\nwhite blood cells. Its folate content is very important in<br \/>\nthe production of new cells, especially during pregnancy.<br \/>\nGreen and yellow (cantaloupe and honeydew) have<br \/>\nanticoagulant blood-thinning activity.<br \/>\nCherries: A good source of perillyl alcohol, which helps<br \/>\nprevent cancer. Heart-protective anthocyanins give<br \/>\ncherries their color.<br \/>\nCranberries: May treat urinary tract infections and<br \/>\nbladder infections.<br \/>\nEggplants*: Contains a host of vitamins, minerals, and<br \/>\nphytonutrients. An anthocyanin phytonutrient found in<br \/>\neggplant skin called nasunin is a potent antioxidant and<br \/>\nfree radical scavenger that has been shown to protect cell<br \/>\nmembranes from damage.<br \/>\nElderberries: May speed the recovery from type A and B<br \/>\ninfluenza.<br \/>\nFigs: Helps to prevent cancer. Both extract of figs and<br \/>\nthe fig compound, benzaidehyde, have helped shrink<br \/>\ntumors in humans. Also laxative, anti-ulcer, antibacterial<br \/>\nand antiparasitic powers.<br \/>\nGrapes: Contains many antioxidant and anticancer<br \/>\ncompounds. Red grapes (not the white or green grapes)<br \/>\nare high in antioxidant quercetin, and are antibacterial and<br \/>\nantiviral. Grape seed oil also raises good type HDL<br \/>\ncholesterol. Purple grapes (especially the skins) and juice<br \/>\noffer three heart-guarding compounds: flavonoids,<br \/>\nanthocyanins and resveratrol. (Green grapes are not rich<br \/>\nin them)<br \/>\nKiwis: Kiwi consumption has been linked to a decrease in<br \/>\nrespiratory-related health problems among children,<br \/>\nincluding asthma. Enjoying just two kiwifruit daily may<br \/>\nsignificantly lower your risk for blood clots and reduce the<br \/>\namount of fats (triglycerides) in your blood, therefore<br \/>\nhelping to protect cardiovascular health.
